With the industry’s rapid development and carbon dioxide emissions on the rise, it’s imperative for fashion companies to address global warming and sustainability. The industry is a significant driver of deforestation, micro-plastic pollution, and marine life endangerment which, in turn, affects the food chain system. Fashion now stands as the third largest contributor to environmental impact, trailing behind the oil & agriculture industry (Whalen, 2023).
We are continuously making efforts to take more and more steps toward eliminating over-consumption & waste by incorporating recycled fibers into our garment production, aiming to cut down on CO2 emissions, conserve valuable resources like energy and water, and minimize waste. To further support this purpose, we’ve implemented digital printing, reducing the amount of water used while aiding in minimizing wastewater and pollution.
In addition to our sustainable garment production, we’ve implemented recycling programs at our offices and replaced traditional cups with eco-friendly alternatives like Cupshe brand mugs, reflecting our dedication to reducing single-use plastic consumption and minimizing our environmental footprint. We are also actively engaged in community clean-up initiatives, mobilizing our team members and local community to contribute to raising awareness about the importance of a clean planet.
Earth Day Beach Clean-Up
In 2021, Cupshe established “Cupshe Cares,” an initiative dedicated to supporting our planet and communities. To commemorate this year’s Earth Day, Cupshe Cares rallied a team of employees, partners, and local community members for a beach clean-up in Santa Monica, CA. Together, we spent the day removing litter and debris, promoting ocean conservation, and fostering connections with our coastal community. It was a rewarding experience, reinforcing our dedication to sustainability and leaving a positive impact on our cherished shores. Moving forward, we are committed to continuing this tradition, integrating it into our lifestyle as an ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility.
Recycled Swim Collection
In response to the environmental impact caused by traditional fashion practices, we have actively sought out sustainable alternatives. Expanding on the success of last year’s first recycled collection, this year’s lineup offered twice the number of sustainably crafted styles, giving new life to waste materials and significantly reducing the environmental impact of textile production. Building upon this, we implemented water-saving techniques through digital printing and adopted a commitment to biodegradable packaging. Through these initiatives, we were able to offer fashionable designs, fun patterns, and affordable prices without sacrificing the health of our planet. We aim to set an example and further our efforts in sustainable fashion by continuing to explore innovative materials and production methods. Our goal is to create more products like these, reducing our environmental footprint while delivering quality and style to our customers.
Looking back, we’re proud of the progress we’ve made but know there’s still work to be done. As we move forward, we believe that every effort, no matter how small, counts toward a greener future.
